Alain Pensis
My beginnings in the sport until today
Born in Belgium to a Belgian father and a Sicilian mother, I grew up until the age of 11 in Belgium where I played football from an early age. I discovered my skills there and it was the beginning of a great adventure in the field of sport.
Arrived in Quebec in the early 80s, I immediately liked baseball, football, hockey and bodybuilding. I did well in baseball (midget AAA) and ice hockey was a revelation for me. But it was bodybuilding at the dawn of my 13th birthday that took a decisive place in my development as an athlete.
My first steps in bodybuilding were made in the company and under the guidance of Joe Spinello. He was there for me like a brother and made me discover the world of competitions. I had the pleasure of accompanying him on the professional circuit for his last competitions as a pro. A person who holds a special place in my development as an athlete and coach!

Career
More than 20 years of bodybuilding competition later, several years as a judge within the APQ, I now focus on passing on my passion to others. For those who know me, I continue to be intense and disciplined in my training. The passion is still there, just like the soldier who watches over me.

When I returned to Quebec, I resumed studies in criminology (UdeMontreal), physical activity (UQUAM) and science (UQTR). In parallel with my studies, I started my career in coaching and here I am thirty years later with a web solution that will allow me to change my life even more, at least that is my wish for each and every one of you.

Bodybuilding is the basis of all sports but also the foundation of an active life without restrictions or disabilities.
Following my degree in psychology, I went for a 3-year tour in the Belgian armed forces. I had the honor and the great pleasure of being part of an elite unit within the air force. The Intervention Squadron has made me who I am for the most part**. I was barely 18 when I enlisted as a reserve officer candidate. After several months of training, I headed to my unit to spend the rest of my term as a commando instructor officer. Best years of my life so far.
A special mention to my unit commander and buddy Eddy Foubert. He was there when I needed him most. I wouldn't be the same man today.
"It was in 1988 that I met Alain. With the help of 4 colleagues, I was in the process of creating a new military unit (EIS) intended to intervene wherever air assets belonging to the Belgian Air Force had to accomplish a mission.We waited impatiently for our militiamen and especially their executives to begin a training which was meant to be severe.
Among our newcomers is a young man straight from Canada, all in muscle, not very talkative (at least at that time), quite suspicious but who only wanted to give his all on the field. ;Gruff, avoiding useless discussions, focused on quick and often categorical solutions, the person concerned very quickly established himself in the profession as a demanding leader but nevertheless very capable of listening to his men.
Very quickly, a bond of friendship was created and, well beyond the hierarchical necessities, a real fraternal complicity was established. This cannot be explained, it "matches"!
I am proud to be able to count Alain among my close friends and brothers and, icing on the cake, I pride myself on being able to say that our special relationship had an influence on the course of his life. Thank you Alain for being what you are to me." -Eddy Foubert
